What is Geometry Dash Subzero about?
Geometry Dash Subzero is an outstanding adventure game with thrilling boss fights and journeys. Evade various obstacles and escape from the skeleton boss.
The Thrill of the Chase Begins
The gameplay begins with a seemingly straightforward premise: jumping on platforms and leaping over spikes. However, as you progress, the thrill of imminent danger injects a rush of adrenaline into your gaming experience. Once you reach 53%, the game takes a dramatic turn with the appearance of a formidable skeleton boss who relentlessly chases after you. As a robot, your agility is put to the test as you jump from pillar to pillar, strategically switching your gravity to evade the boss's menacing bites. This moment not only escalates the intensity of the gameplay but also challenges you to master your jumping skills while maintaining a keen sense of timing and precision in navigating through the obstacles.
Navigating New Challenges
After your encounter with the skeleton boss, the gameplay shifts yet again as you pass through a ship portal, transforming into a ship with the objective of flying along a winding path to reach a green chimney. This transition requires a different set of skills, demanding quick reflexes as you maneuver through tight spaces. Following this section, you revert back to a cube form, and the screen tightens, creating a more challenging visual environment where you must adeptly move left and right while collecting coins along the way. The excitement escalates further as you engage in a heart-pounding boss chase. In this climactic battle, the skeleton boss morphs into a more menacing form, displaying a vibrant green or red hue and unleashing deadly lasers aimed at you. You must skillfully navigate upward or downward to avoid the laser blasts, all while keeping your focus on reaching the finish line. This sequence of events encapsulates the thrilling and dynamic nature of the game, showcasing its ability to keep players on their toes through a variety of challenges and experiences.
What are the features of Geometry Dash SubZero?
Colorful characters
Characters in this game are the most impressive I have seen. You will find 35 characters which are sorted into seven types, including cube characters, spider characters, ship characters, robot characters, wave characters, ball characters, and UFO characters. These characters can run, slide, roll, fly, or hop to get to the end.
Practice Mode and Normal Mode
Like other versions, the game mode system of this game is kept. It still features two game modes, including the Practice Mode and Normal Mode, which are suitable for beginners and veteran players. The Practice Mode undoubtedly is the best choice for players who try playing this game for the first time because of its checkpoint mechanics. Specifically, you can set checkpoints freely on your way to the finish line. Crashing into the obstacles can result in returning to the nearest checkpoint, so you can reach the finish line early. In contrast, the normal mode can send you to the starting point if any accident happens. Therefore, if you don not want to complete the level in this game with hundreds of attempts, don't try the normal mode first.
The Verdict
To my surprise, Geometry Dash Subzero works a lot better than other fan-made versions I have played. It brings a new theme, a thrilling Hollywood-like boss chase, and interesting adventures. The main thing holding it back is that there is no character update. You still have to select between 35 characters, which are similar to those in other fan-made versions. Anyway, it is definitely a breath of fresh air for the Geometry Dash community overall.
